About the Code of Conduct
The Panama Real Estate Code of Conduct was created originally to meet the needs of the 4,000 members of Retirement Wave, a group of people from all over the world who are interested in purchasing a home or other real estate property in the Republic of Panama. Retirement Wave is a non--profit information website sponsored by Robert Adams that does not accept advertising and which neither sells any products or services nor accepts any fees or commissions for any properties or services it discusses. More can be read about Mr. Adams and the objectives of Retirement Wave here
For purposes of contracting and administering the Code of Conduct, Panama Wave S.A., incorporated in the Republic of Panama, holds these responsibilities.
For project owners and developers: If you wish to participate, there are two fundamental requirements. First and foremost, you must treat the Project Code of Conduct seriously and implement it. Secondly, there is an administrative fee for participation based on the total number of units for sale in your development as follows: 30 units or less - $250, 31 to 100 units - $750, 101 to 200 units - $1250, and more than 200 units - $2500.
For real estate agencies and independent agents: If you wish to participate, there are two fundamental requirements. First and foremost, you must treat the Agency Code of Conduct seriously and implement it. Secondly, there is an administrative fee for participation of $300 for an entire agency or $50 for an individual agent.
These modest fees are meant to cover the Project's costs of administration, as well as emphasize that the implementation of the Codes will be overseen independently.
In all cases, those who sign either Code must understand that their signing does not mean that Panama Wave S.A. or any of its associates are recommending or otherwise supporting your business. The Codes are meant to be statements of your ethical performance. You are responsible for that performance. Failure to implement the Code can lead to your removal from the list at our discretion.
